Home Health Care Agencies

Agencies are regulated and monitored by the State of New Jersey and can provide backup in the event a staff member is unavailable. "Home Health Agencies" are licensed by the Department of Health and Senior Services and "Health Care Service Firms" are licensed by the Department of Consumer Affairs. Licensing is a form of quality control and provides the consumer with the protection of national and state regulations, monitoring to assure quality and adherence to standards. Additional quality controls are Accreditation, Medicare Certification and Medicaid approval.

Health care services are provided by Registered Professional Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and other providers such as occupational, physical and respiratory therapists, dieticians and social workers.

Certified Homemaker - Home Health Aides (CHHAs) assist the nurse by providing personal task care, personal meal preparation and light laundering. Housekeeping services such as shopping, cooking and laundering for the family are more appropriately provided by a housekeeper, companion or domestic service provider.
