Caregiver Programs

A caregiver is a family member or friend who assists with managing the life activities of a person 18 years of age or older, functionally impaired or chronically ill. The caregiver may live with the care recipient or visit on a regular basis. Caring for a elderly person at home is a difficult task and can become overwhelming at times. Each day brings new challenges as the caregiver copes with changing levels of ability and new patterns of behavior. Having a plan for getting through the day can help caregivers cope. This section has been prepared to provide information on programs and services designed to support and assist caregivers in their vital role of care giving. For information about professionals who provide in-home services contact the Somerset County Office on Aging at (877) 747-1122.
